Hello! My name is Dr. Jen Bachtold, Licensed Clinical Psychologist and owner of Dr. Jen Therapy. I am trained and certified in trauma-focused therapy, anger management, and am a CADC-II (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) with over 18 years of professional experience in addiction and recovery. I have worked with an array of patients from adolescents to geriatric to those in the foster care system, corrections and justice system, residential and outpatient treatment centers, and in-home care.
I provide care to those struggling with mental and emotional health disorders as well as those facing challenges with adjustment to all phases of life & transitions. I also work with specific populations including: Addiction and Substance-Affected Individuals, First Responders & Law Enforcement, Healthcare Professionals, Educators, Corporate Professionals, Veterans, LGBTQIA+, Neurodivergent, Immigrants/Refugees, Court-Ordered or Formerly Incarcerated, and Individuals in Non-Traditional Relationships.
Building a rapport is the most important aspect of the therapeutic connection between therapist and patient. I use a comprehensive approach that may incorporate various therapy modalities depending on the needs of the session. Each session may be different and will be tailored to YOU! In your first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy and then decide the most appropriate ways to help you make progress and adjust the therapy approach as needed and as goals are met! If you are unsure of therapy or if this is the first time embarking on this journey, we will explore it together and I will help guide you. I use a solution-focused, goal-oriented approach, and cognitive-behavioral model that puts you first and includes CBT, ACT, IPT, strength-based, trauma-focused, culturally-sensitive, relapse prevention, and motivational interviewing. I am here to help you cope with whatever you are experiencing- no matter how big or small.
As a psychologist, my passion lies in helping individuals navigate life's challenges and facilitating their journey towards growth and healing. I believe in the power of therapy to foster self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change. It is an honor to walk alongside my patients as they explore their emotions, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment. I'm committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for all of my patients. I value feedback and am dedicated to continuously improving my practice to ensure that each individual feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
